Just a man and his guitar…

We rolled into Grants Pass, Oregon last night and spent our first official RV night in the parking lot of Walmart.  I was a little bit bummed about not staying some place with a little more authenticity, but woke up to a beautiful Monday morning surrounded by misty mountains.  So, Walmarts are a definite yes on this trip and we appreciate them letting us sleep in their parking lot.

We woke up early this morning and headed over to KAJO 1270 AM in Grants Pass for a 10:30 a.m. live slot on “Eyewitness Report”.  Ammie and I were both really excited to be in their studio receiving local support.  We did a quick bit on the project and I played the song Zoo since it’s short and we were working with 5 minutes of airtime.  Unfortunately, I still hadn’t figured out my hand held recorder well enough to capture it, but I’ve got it down now, and I hope to keep posting more and more audio files.

Then we were off to Glendale, Oregon to play the Morningstar Coffee House.  I was so honored to drive into town and see this sign posted in front…

Warm Welcome

Warm Welcome

What a welcome for our first show!  The greeted us with friendly smiles, local stories and Iced Chai Tea’s……everything we needed to start!  We couldn’t have asked for a better place to start the music off!  The place is owned and operated by The Morningstars who have spent the past 28 years in Glendale.  Not only does Misty and her family run the coffee/bookstore, but her children are also musicians, photographers and firefighters.  Misty also makes sure the town locals get their Costco deliveries and medications on a weekly basis (she’s also a nurse).  In addition, they also make decals (which can now be seen on the back of the RV) and aluminum signs like the one they so kindly made to welcome us.  If you’re in need of an awesome looking sign or just want more information on their company, please visit www.commanderboardsigns.com.   A very special thank you to The Morningstars for making our first show so perfect.  Here’s a picture of their family and a few of the people who came out to watch our performance (I’m running in an attempt to make the 2 second timer…..gotta figure that out soon). And you can also listen to the entire first show on the media player below.  Cheers!
